 Navajo weaver Lula Tsosie uses techniques, materials, and methods unchanged for centuries to create this 'Two Grey Hills' weaving. A Navajo weaving motif of long standing, the 'Two Grey Hills' pattern is generally based on diamond shapes in shades of black, grey, cream, and brown. This one-of-a-kind weaving is made with natural and vegetal-dyed 100 percent wool on a string warp. Vegetal dyes are created by boiling plant materials such as sagebrush, juniper bark, onion peels, or beeplant to extract the color. The exquisitely crafted piece measures 28-1/2 inches by 36-1/2 inches. This weaving comes with a certificate of authenticity. In the high deserts of the great American West, Native Americans from the Navajo tribe carry on their traditional art of weaving. Local craftspeople strive to make use of indigenous resources while supporting their families and aiding the economy of their developing community.
