 The simplicity of this authentic Chilean bowl works with many types of dicor. It's a functional serving dish, or a decorative centrepiece. This is one of a series of handmade pottery pieces from the Pomaire region of Chile. Pomaire pottery stems from an 18th century tradition of 'women's work'. Worldstock's Pomaire range represents the work of more than two dozen potters - and they're not just women anymore. Each piece of pottery is shaped by hand, dried slowly to avoid cracking, polished with agate stones, and then kiln fired at 650 degrees Celsius for at least eight hours. Pomaire's distinctive finish comes from yet another, final, polishing process. Design and technological updates often come through channels such as Comparte, which has been working for over ten years to improve working and marketing conditions for Chilean artisans. Comparte's services are used by over 450 workshops. Comparte was an early Worldstock partner, facilitating communications with producers throughout Chile.
